Following on came Craven Arts members exciting collaboration of Vision & Verse on show over summer until 31August. With its literally theme, the juxtaposition of art and poetry in this way was warmly welcomed, some returning several times to immerse themselves in the wide range of poetry. In association we also held an Open Mic session which proved very popular and may become a more regular feature at Craven Arts House.
Gargrave Art Exhibition was a very different experience for me after so many years at the helm, so I was so particularly pleased that my collage creation Lines of a latitude perspective on Gargrave about the lovely village and landscape around Gargrave sold on the first night and will stay in Gargrave!; my little Swiss Valais Blacknose lamb also sold so thank you to two lovely customers.
As farmers we always enjoy the rural agricultural shows season that began for us at Trawden Show where we’ve been part of the craft marquee scene for a number of years, it was a glorious day and lovely to catch up with former customers and friends. The following weekend, and for the first time, we were at Gargrave Show's crafts marquee on another stunningly beautiful day, our new small range of household items tea towels and drinks coasters proving popular. The next venture was to be Hodder Valley Show at the foot of the Trough of Bowland but sadly cancelled at the last minute due to appalling weather - well it had to come sometime!
Coming up ….
A few more events await, Whitechapel Farmers Market near Longridge on 21 September and Holden Clough Nurseries Artisan Market 25-26 October. In November we’re back exhibiting in Skipton’s Holy Trinity Church cafe, and on 6 December it’s Craven Arts Christmas Makers Fair - all dependent on forthcoming surgery on the dicky hip?
Traces - Skipton’s history in focus is a major event for Craven Arts House. This is an open exhibition, selections made, and we’re in!. As a collaboration between Craven Arts and Skipton Civic Society with its members giving talks during the programme, it’s going to be fascinating. Look out for workshops associated with this event and our regular programme - there’s something creative for almost everyone on offer https://www.cravenarts.co.uk/workshops
